Taj Ki Nagra Agra!

In my last few visits to Agra I never had time to visit Taj Mahal. On my last trip there my schedule allowed me, Hemanshu and Dolly to pay a visit to Taj on beautiful rainy day. The tomb looked even beautiful in the rare rainy days of drought affected Agra.

Here are some interesting pictures I took from my mobile camera.
Chappal management was messed as it was very crowded!
Some interesting facts about the Taj, that I collected from the net. Interesting Facts About Taj Mahal:
· The construction work on Taj Mahal is believed to be carried out by 20,000 workmen, who worked for around 20 years on a daily basis, and the cost of construction of Taj Mahal, even at that time, came to 32 crore rupees. It’s a big expense!

· Shah Jahan constructed Taj in the memory of lost Mumtaz Mahal, who died when she got giving birth to their 14h child (poor lady :-(…)

· Taj Mahal is made purely of white marble, which was brought from the quarries of Makrana, in Nagaur district of Rajasthan and It is said that as many as 1000 elephants were used to transport the white marbled used in construction of Taj Mahal.

· There is a mosque on the left of Taj Mahal, made of red sandstone. It is used for conducting Friday prayers, but there is another mosque, standing on Taj Mahal’s right hand side. Since it faces west, it is not used for prayers. It is believed to have been built for maintaining symmetry (share waste of money and a mosque :-)).

· Entry fee for Indians is 20 Rs. and for forgeiners is 970 Rs. so forgieners gets complimentry services as well :-).

AOL Agra chapter is organizing a Special DSN course in the Taj ki Nagri Agra and whole gang is going to go on a trip to Taj Mahal!

Do talk about the course and send people, the course is going to be a life time experience for every particiant!
