Happy New Year
In this new year, make sure no event, no instance, no situation can put down your enthusiasm, your joy and your commitment. Many events may happen that may try to put down your spirit. Like a candle when it is lid, it keeps its spirit always up. Even if you turn the candle up-side down the flame will always go up. Like that don’t hold any grouch against anybody. Be flexible flow with the events. Pleasant, unpleasant things happen in life. So let this New Year teach us whatever lesson it want to teach us. With this strength, confidence move ahead. Not wishing that only nice and goody-goody things should happen to us. Whatever happens in this New Year, one thing we are not going to loose is our enthusiasm, our strength and our commitment to truth and knowledge!

The invitation...

Last December Gurudev's pearls on New Year in a conference:
A candle when it is lid, it keeps it’s spirit always up. Even if you turn the candle up side down the flame will always go up. So let this New Year teach us whatever lesson it want to teach us. With this strength and confidence move ahead, not wishing that only nice and goody-goody things should happen to us. Whatever happens in this New Year one thing we are not going to loose is our enthusiasm, our strength and our commitment to knowledge!

Learing in potatoes cutting
Let me share one incidence of the course with you. I was cutting potatoes with few other course participants. I was struggling little bit as potatoes were big in size and I did not realize that my knife wasn’t shape enough. The lady sitting next to me realized this she offer me another knife, which made my job really easy and smooth. Suddenly I was producing chopped potatoes at a very fast rate. After 5-10 minutes another course participant joined me with a vegetable cutter and starting chopping potatoes at a much faster rate. This continued for 10 minutes and then two other lady participants got interested in our service and took over completely. Hence I was free to take some other work.
Now this sounds like a strange story, what is there in it and why I’m telling this story to you?
There are subtle learning and messages in this whole set of events. First “Lady helped me with sharper knife”. There are two messages in it; first if things are not working for you, you aren’t facing the challenges of life with smoothness. Know that you need to sharpen your instruments, which in case of our life is our own mind. Second, if you don’t realize that the very instrument you are using has a problem and someone else realize it for you. Accept their help.
“Another course participant joined with fast chopper”, if someone better than you join you. Welcome them in, and be a team and work together. It helps you become better and grow.
“two other lady participants took over”, message is, once you become brilliant in doing something. Look for your replacement, support them to replace you so that you can move on and take on other assignment.

When Master steps in...
enjoy!

When Master steps in,
through the corridors of mind,
into the heart,
it is said,
seeking stops and blooming begins,
and i say,
blooming stops and completion happens ...
When Master steps in,
with a flower of Love,
the bee like i,
stops buzzing forever,
and intoxication happens ...
When Master steps in,
with the fire of Truth,
to ignite the candle of Being within,
the jewels of knowledge and ignorance fade away,
and i say,
everything is burnt into Silence ...
When Master steps in,
the cosmos have no value,
and i say,
there is no room for myself anymore,
as there is only the Master,
and nothing else ...
And so it happens,
when Master steps in ...

Many Thanks,
Hapy and Healthy Family Sutras
Any ways… it made me think about a set of guide-lines that a family must follow in order to be a happy, healthy and peaceful family. Here is a formula:
1. Every member of family must practice asanas, pranayama, sudershan Kriya and meditation for 30-45 minutes everyday, preferably after bath in morning. More specifically:

- Youngsters below 18 should practice for 20-30 minutes
- Youngsters above 18 should practice for 30-40 minutes
- Married people above 18 should practice for 45-60 minutes
2. 7-10% of total family income should be donated to the people and organizations doing social and spiritual upliftment work. More specifically, at least one person of the family should actively contribute by devoting his/her time and mind to such work of service.
3. All family members should get together for 20-30 minutes in evening and sing the Sanskrit hymns from Vedas or very simple songs glorifying the divinity. Chant and sing with feelings and heart to glorify that higher existence within. Simply rejoice the singing and not to get into to many words and asking favors for God etc.
4. Deep belief and faith in divinity, in saints and wise masters should be nurtured in every member of the family. Practicing 1, 2 and 3 will help in developing the deep faith and belief.
5. Ayurvedic life style is to be adopted in eating and living habits:
- Every family member to know their prakriti (basic body-mind constitution) and vikuriti (current distortions in basic body-mind complex). Eating patterns is be in accordance with your prakriti.
- Allopathic medical system is to be kept away and avoided as much as possible.
- 70% satavik (fresh vegetables, fruits, pure vegetarian and home cooked food) and 20-30% rajasik (sweets, spices, cakes etc) foods is to be consumed. Tamsik food like Tobacco, alcoholic drinks, non-vegetarian food including eggs and cold drinks are NOT to be consumed at all.

Healthy Food Fundas: Is chemistry of your body right?
- Balanced body chemistry is of utmost importance for the maintenance of health and correction of disease. Over-acidity in the body tissues, is one of the basic causes of many diseases, especially the arthritic and rheumatic diseases.
- All foods are "burned" in the body--more commonly called "digested"-- leaving an ash as the result of the "burning", or the digestion. This food ash can be neutral, acid or alkaline, depending largely on the mineral composition of the foods. Some foods leave an acid residue (Acidic Foods) or ash, some alkaline (Alkaline).
- The acid ash (acidosis) results when there is a depletion of the alkali reserve or the diminution in the reserve supply of fixed bases in the blood and the tissues of the body.
It is, therefore, vitally important that there is a proper ratio between acid and alkaline foods in the diet. The natural ratio in a normal healthy body is approximately 4 to 1 -- four parts alkaline to one part acid, or 80% to 20%. - When such an ideal ratio is maintained, the body has a strong resistance against disease. In the healing of disease, when the patient usually has acidosis, the higher the ratio of alkaline elements in the diet, the faster will be the recovery. Alkalis neutralize the acids. Therefore in the treatment of most diseases it is important that the patient's diet includes plenty of alkaline-ash foods to offset the effects of acid-forming foods and leave a safe margin of alkalinity.

- Below are tables of common foods with an approximate potential acidity or alkalinity, as present in one ounce of food.
- Most grains are acid-forming, except millet and buckwheat, which are considered to be alkaline. Sprouted seeds and grains become more alkaline in the process of sprouting.
All vegetable and fruit juices are highly alkaline. The most alkali-forming juices are: fig juice, green juices of all green vegetables and tops, carrots, beet, celery, pineapple and citrus juices.

Bastar Blessed
Villagers with problems and pains received the personal blessings and Gurudev’s picture after satsang. Small pains and sickness anyway disappears in our blessing but in was surprising to see long term problems disappearing on the spot. There are few instances I remember, one young boy was not able to lift anything from his right hand from last few years after blessing he lifted and played one of the instruments we used for the satsang. A lady who could not sit on the ground from so many days set thrice on the ground. I don’t know the logic behind all this but one thing I could think is the faith of the people here. Tribal people here are so innocent and simple they immediately trust you. It does only singing of few bhajans for them to have faith and blessing works miraculously for them.

coexistence of opposites
One, who can realize this, can only establish in the center of ones being. It’s a big dilemma for lot and lots of people faces in their life.
There are people who are dynamic and extrovert they end-up being very aggressive in nature. They are hardly relaxed, they are restless, and it’s difficult in being the company of such people.
There are people who are calm and introvert, they don’t take responsibility and complain, end-up being inactive. They are relaxed to the extent of being dull, their company is uninteresting, not much happens around such people. Being dynamic and calm looks opposite but their co-existence makes one the complete personality, being dynamic in action and calm inside in heart.
Completely accepting the people and events happening around and still taking proactive action, sounds opposite but one comes automatically complemented with another. One who has realizes this can be centered both in ups and downs of life. One who knows this can smile even in worst time of the life. One have experienced this will not crave for the comfortable world and will not be averse to the unpleasant event around.
And spirituality is a path to achieve such state of being.

AnuragBlessed Bastar!
Today I finished a course in a beautiful village named darbha 15 kms from these teerathgarh water falls, another beautiful must visit site near jagdalpur!

These falls are much more approachable unlike chitrakota, you can even sit very near and meditate or even can take a shower. Silver in color (as you can see), chitrakota falls are golden in color and generally little muddy also.
Now! this picture of a green land with some trees and fields is heavenly place blessed by Guruji to be Bastar Art of living ashram(meditation and training center):

Blessed and Beautiful: Bastar
Their simplicity (bholapan), devotion and participation was simply inspiring. Going into meditation is effortless for these people. They do daily evening satsangs in near by 20 villages. I'll post some pictures in my next posting. Its very easy for them to merge into the singing. They start swaying and dancing from the first bhajan itself.
These tribal villages are simply beautiful, they homes (mostly made of mud, grass and bamboo) are unbelievably clean. They really maintain their homes, the fencing of their gardens, gobiri (cows dunk used for layering the floor), everything very neatly organized. Villages are generally very small in size (500-1000 people) and there are tons and tons of lush green forest. So water may be red in color (undrinkable) but lots and lots of high prana, high oxygen, clean and fresh supply of air everywhere.

Prestige & Honour-Your Golden Cage
I got to read this in a mail today, thought must share it with you:
Honour reduces freedom. Your fame, honour & virtue can limit your freedom.
Nobody expects a good person to make a mistake. So the better you are, the higher the expectations people have of you. It is then that you lose your freedom. Your virtues & good actions are like a golden cage. You are trapped by your own good actions , for everyone expects more from a good person & nobody expects anything from a bad person.

Most of the people are stuck in this cage of prestige & honour. They cannot smile. They are constantly worried about keeping up their prestige & honour. It becomes more important than their own life. Just being good or doing good to retain prestige & honour is worthless. Prestige & honour can bring more misery in life than poverty.
Many desire fame but little do they know that they are looking for a cage.
It is an art to be dignified & yet not be suffocated by it. Only the wise would know this. For the wise one it is natural to be honoured, but he has no concerns even if it falls apart. Despite having fame or prestige , he will live as though he has none. A wise person can handle any fame without feeling suffocated for he too is crazy !
By doing good in society one gains prestige, then when enjoying the prestige & honour one's freedom is lost.
Question : Then how do you keep your freedom ?
Sri Sri : By being like a child , considering the world as a dream , a burden or a joke.
Love and Regards,
Anurag

Gurudev's Chhattisgarh Visit: Last
A ten minuet break in Bhilia Steel Plant Hotel before Gurudev had to move for a corporate talk. As people were throwing flowers on him, I thought it’s a good we should remove those flower petals from his hairs. We could remove only few as he asked to move for the meeting. He unsnarled his hairs little bit and moved out with the comb in his hand. 500-600 odd corporate people in meeting, he stood up in his usual graceful style and said “I’ll talk to you while detangling my hairs, when bal(hairs) get longer (bigger) they get entangle and that is when the comb is needed, same is with bal(child) also when they get entangle the comb of knowledge is required”. What’s an opening of a talk!
First time I was playing the secretary of Gurudev in this talk (as he asked me to carry his black bag and asana) once this thought crossed my mind in Ashram, how lucky are these people who get do this for Guruji. I was very attentively sitting in one corner of the stage for a moment I remembered what Bhanu didi said in last TRM “THERE ARE NO PRIVATE THOUGHTS IN HIS NETWORK”.
Few of the sutras that Guruji shared in this corporate meeting “MnM i.e. Meal and Meditation for better corporate productivity, less acidic and healthy meal and daily meditation”. He said “Get out of seam (personal likes and dislikes that we develop with time), get into team and take social corporate responsibility”. “What kind of joiners you like in your organization? One who always praises you and does buttering or the one who speaks with courage what is right and beneficial from the team?”

“Greed, Jealousy and arrogance, these three things creeping in an organization causes the decay of the organization. That is when Guru is needed who can make everyone sit together on one platform and have a dialog”.
Pineapple Halwa

Ingredients:
1 ½ cups crushed pineapple
1 cup milk
Half cup rava/semolina/cream of wheat
3-4 tsp sugar (for Meerut and Muzaffernagar 5-6 tsp :-))
1-2 Tbsp ghee
A pinch of powdered cardamom and Almonds or Dry Fruits
Method: Heat the ghee in a pan and add the rava to it & toast it till it is done. (You can tell by the smell when it’s done.)
Add the milk followed by the crushed pineapple. Stir continuously and keep mixing well on low to medium heat for about 15-20 minutes. Add the almonds, sugar & cardamom powder and continue to cook for another 2 -3 minutes.
Serve hot or cold.

Sweet and Straight

On the other hand, people are very goody-goody, very sweetie-sweetie and doing nothing, taking no responsibility. Has no straightness in their response. This is also of no use.
The Art of Living is being sweet and taking responsibility at the same time. We can be sweet, soft and straight at the same time. That is when you are at your best!
And this ART of LIVING can be learnt.

Gurudev's chhattisgarh visit: Part III
Three hours before satsang the ground was in deep water, organizers used waters pumps to drain the water out of the ground. We reached satsang ground at 7:30PM and it was an amazing site, around 5000 people with their umbrellas and rain coats on, dancing and eagerly waiting for the master. The backdrop all made of thermocol holograms and a beautiful and ramp was all under water. Somehow I managed to take few pictures it’s not very clear but may give you some idea.
People singing and dancing with their umbrellas and rain coats on!!!
Guruji arrived at around 8:30PM straight from 9 hours of journey by road and by train. The whole environment got electrifying and straight away he was on ramp, more enthusiastic and charged up then anyone else on the ground. Most of the time Guruji was dancing, singing, playing all in rain. Everyone on the ground was dancing and waiting a glimpse from him. He said I’ve done thousands of satsangs but this one is special. It was raining heavily in whole duration of satsang.
People of Chhattisgarh were praying for rains from long time as rice crop was getting affected. During his visit in almost every district in rained heavily. Both water and grace was pouring all over Chhattisgarh.

Anurag
